Who is Irina Shayk?
Irina Valeryevna Shaykhlislamova or better known as Irina Shayk, is a Russian-Tatarian supermodel and actress. She was born on January 6th, 1986 in Yemanzhelinsk Russia, to parents Olga (who is a kindergarten music teacher) and father Valery (who is a coal miner. She also has an older sister named Tatiana.
Before the fame
At the age of 6, she began playing piano, and then later on, going to a music school when she was 9. During the seven years of education, her father died due to pneumonia and left her and her family struggling when she was just 14. After she graduated high school, she began studying marketing but then decided to go to a beauty school, which lead her being discovered from a modeling agency. From then on, she began getting a lot of recgognizsion and success.
The modeling career
Her first spot in the limelight was when she won a 2004 “Miss Chelyabindk” beauty competition. Then she started modeling in 2007 for sports illustrated magazines covers like “Intimissimi”. She even became their ambassdor after three years later. Other widely popular brands she worked with are Victoria Secret, Morellato, and Lacoste. Later in 2010, she modeled for Armani Exchange, starred in “Power” by Kanye West, was the cover of GQ and Ocean Drive, and even was listed as the top most beautiful Russian women. She also modeled for Elle Spains November 2010 issue. She continued to work for major high profile brands, landed in ad campaigns, and even opened for the 2014 Russian Winter Olympics. At this point millions of people knew her and became very successful in the modeling industry.
The Runway
Though she was known for being a swimsuit model, she quickly turned to high fashion in matter of only a few years. You’ve most likely seen her walk for Versace, Marc Jacobs, Moshino, Burberry, Givency, and many more.
Her Acting
Irina also voice acted for Megara in the 2014 movie Hercules. In 2016, she appeared in an episode in “Inside Amy Schumer” called “Psychopath Test”.
Her Relationships
Her first public relationship was with the famous Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. They began dated from 2009, but ended the relationship in the beginning of 2015. Later that year, she met and started dating Bradley Cooper- an American actor. In 2017, they welcomed their first daughter Lea De Seine. However, two years later, they split up.
Philanthropy
Though she is very successful in the world, as he did forget where she came from. She often donates and helps build hospitals for sick children alongside her sister, helping fund a maternity hospital, and is an ambassador for “Pomogi”- a Russian charity. She is also an ambassador for the “Food Bank for New York City” and “ASPCA”.
