Chopra’s childhood was very difficult due to her constant moving. Her parents- Madu and Ashok Chopra, both were physicians for the Indian army. Priyanka never really felt welcomed in her schools in Boston, to even being bullied due to her cultural background. This created her self-esteem issues, and depression.
Pageant Years
Priyanka spent her high school years participating in many beauty pageants. She won second place for Miss India in 1999, at just 17 years old, and became Miss World in 2000. She also was the 5th winner for Miss World from her country.
Bollywood
Due to her success in pageants, she quickly got opportunities in the film industry. She began her career in Bollywood, debuting in the 2002 film “Thamizhan”, following “Jeet”, ” Born to Win” the same year. She expressed her hatred and worry in her first movies, but proceeded to act. From 2003-2004, she filmed many movies such as “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy”, “Andaaz”, “Plan”, “Kismat”, “Asambhav”, “Aitrazz”, and “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi”. This gave her major popularity in the Bollywood rom-com movies at the time, and one of the highest paid actresses in India.
American acting
Though she did well in India, her big break in America came from her role as Alex Parish in the 2015 show Quantico. She then on got more opportunities to star in well known movies like “Baywatch”, and “Isn’t it Romantic?”.
Dating life
When it comes to her personal life, she likes to keep it quiet. Throughout her career, she was spotted dating a few men. She allegedly dated Harman Baweja, Aseem Merchant, Shahid Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Tom Hiddleston, though it is not confirmed. She first met her partner Nick Jones in 2017, and soon later began dating, following a wedding in December of 2018. The couple is happily married to this day.
