Mariah Carey is a multi-dimensional personality. She is an American singer, songwriter, actress, director, television judge, entrepreneur, philanthropist and record producer. She was born in Long Island, New York, United States on March 27, 1969 or 1970 (sources differ on Carey’s birth year). She is very famous for her vocal range, her signature use of whistler register and melismatic singing style. Carey’s father, Alfred Roy Carey, was an African American while her mother, Patricia Carey, is of Irish descent. Alfred Roy Carrey was a singer as well as an aeronautical engineer. Her mother was a voice coach and opera singer. The last name Carey was adopted by her grandfather. Carey’s parents divorced when she was just three years old. Carey spent much of her time at home and she started singing when she was three years old. Her first singing teacher was her mother. She was inspired by her mother.
